CoGame: collaborative cultural heritage video game creation

Le communiqué de presse - Press release

An Erasmus+ strategic partnership

The Mundaneum is part of the "CoGame" project, a collaborative cultural heritage video game creation that will span over 2016 and 2017.
Its partners are CEPS Projectes Socials (ES-CAT); Berufsforderungsintitut Oberösterreich (AT); Laterna Magica Kulturális és Oktatási Szolgáltató Kft. (HU); Centro Informazione e Educazione allo Sviluppo - CIES onlus (IT).

Narrativity is now the milestone for learning about cultural heritage using ICT's. Documentation, historical accuracy and communication are the basis for the creation of stories helping to teach about our common European heritage. Video games strengthen those qualities by adding interaction, scenarios, characters... and fun. In this context, people can learn about the past and develop digital skills while increasing employability in one of the most vigorous creative industries all over the world. The Europeana database has shown that the public domain in heritage has an enormous value as catalyst of processes for further scientific uses. Having Europeana legacy as documental main source, the project will be built about the development of Open Educational Resources that will allow participative models of learning where ICT's are essential.

Objectives

  • To demonstrate how innovation can be a lever for the knowledge and dissemination of the European cultural heritage
  • To adapt cultural heritage communication and knowledge needs to the creation of videogames with open digital resources
  • To create links with the different stakeholders (schools, training centres, educational producers, video game creators) in order to develop job opportunities
